BASIC WEAPONS LIST
The following is a list of basic weapons available to the Colonial Marines. Note that this is merely a list of all weapons available to the Colonial Marines, not a list of all weapons that a marine carries into the field.
Knives
-M142 Combat Knife
-M144 Combat Knife
When silence is the key, there is no better weapon than the knife. The above listed knives are very similar to one another, as both are made with diamond coated titanium blades to keep them sharp, and are capable of piercing Class 2 body armor.
Pistols
-VP-70 Pistol (standard; 9x19mm 15rnd clip)
-M4A4 Tactical Pistol (9x19mm 12rnd clip)
The VP-70 is the standard military pistol for the Colonial Marine Corps. It's a light-weight small arms weapon that's suitable for emergency use in a bind or close quarters combat. The more advanced M4A4 Tactical Pistol carries fewer rounds per clip, but is large enough for a marine to attach a tactical light or laser sight.
Shotguns
-M25A Security/Riot Shotgun (12g. Pump Action)
-M37A2 Combat Auto-Shotgun (12g. Pump Action/Semi-Automatic)
The M25A Riot Shotgun is basic enough for a marine to wear at his/her side, and the pump action feature is something many soldiers prefer in the event of a jam in their primary weapon. The M37A2 Auto-Shotgun can be adjusted to be either a pump action or semi-automatic weapon. While the M25A holds eight rounds in its tubular clip, the M37A2 only holds six.
Rifles
-M34A3 Assault/Battle Rifle (6.5mm case-less; semi/full automatic or 3-round bursts)
-M41A2 Pulse Rifle (10x24mm case-less Semi/Full automatic; 30mm pump-action M40B grenade launcher)
-M42A Scope Rifle (10x28mm case-less Semi-Automatic)
The M41A2 Pulse Rifle is the replacement for the Corps long used M41A, and the primary weapon of the Colonial Marines. Praised for its durability, the rifle - which can hold 99 rounds per clip, but most only load 95 to avoid jams - can be set to fully-automatic, or can fire in semi-automatic mode as well as in four-round bursts. Attached is a 30mm pump-action M40B grenade launcher for more wide-spread damage. It now has an electronic setting making grenades timed (3 seconds) or point detonating, so that in urban combat grenades can be fired and bounced around corners if need be. The rifle can hold four grenades at a time. The forward end of the receiver now has mounting positions for tactical lasers and lights as well, and the upper handle at the top of the receiver can be removed for fitting with a scope for designated marksmen.
The M42A Scope Rifle is the weapon of the Marine sniper, and has a scope which can be set to such settings as Night Vision, Infra-Red/Thermal, or UV light. The M42A comes with a sound and light suppressor, and is typically used with a bipod. Finally, the M34A3 Assault/Battle Rifle - which holds 90 rounds per magazine - uses a bull-pup configuration to decrese the overall length of the weapon. With a firing rate around 600rpm, the M34A3 allows for modular accessories such as 40mm single-shot grenade launcher, a 30-mm pump action launcher, or a 20mm high explosive rifle.
Machine Guns
-M41AE3 Squad Support Gun (10x24mm case-less, Burst or Full Automatic)
-M56A2 Smart Gun (10x28mm case-less, 4 round, 8 round Bursts or Full Automatic)
When Marines expect a true firefight, they call in the M56A2 Smart Gun, which fires up to 1200 rounds per minute from its side-mounted 500-round drum. The M56A2 is mounted to a steady harness worn by the user, and operated by two grips on either side of the weapon. The gun features a smart tracking system based on infrared tracking, which steers the gun toward its target. Users wear an infrafred HUD on their helmet with an eyepiece that gives them visual access to the gun's targets. The M41AE3 is more suited for close quarters combat but offers, and can hold up to 300 rounds of ammunition.
Other
-M240A1 Flame-Thrower
-M5 RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade-launcher; 60mm Non-guided Rocket)
-M92A PN Grenade Launcher (30mm, Semi-automatic)
-M83A2 SADAR (Shoulder-launched Active-homing Disposable Anti-tank Rocket; 83mm Smart Rocket)
-M120 SLAM (Shoulder Launched Anti-aircraft Missile-launcher; 78mm SIM-118 Hornet Anti-aircraft Rocket)
Those infantrymen who don't choose the M41A as their primary weapon typically prefer the M240A1 flame unit, which are especially useful against hostile organisms and actual facilities and buildings. The unit features an easily-replacable two-liter fuel cylinder, but is somewhat vulnerable to enemy fire. The M5 RPG is an inexpensive anti-armor weapon designed to defeat light armored vehicles. The M92A PN Grenade Launcher is a semi-automatic version of the unit found on the M41A rifle, designed for one-handed use as an assault weapon. The M83A2 SADAR is one of the marines' best anti-tank weapons, with a tracking system to identify targets and hone in on more vulnerable areas. Finally, the M120 SLAM is an anti-aircraft missle used against low altitude aircraft, though it has no explosive warhead.
Grenades:
-M84 Stun Grenade (Flash-Bang): Often tossed into rooms before clearing them, this grenade is primarily an anti-personnel weapon used to offset enemy troops during urban combat.
-AN-M14 TH3 Incendiary Grenade: The AN-M14 TH3's main role is to disable equipment before its capture in a combat situation, but can also be used to disable enemy computers, vehicles, ammo-stocks, and start fires during havoc-manuevers.
-AN-M83 HC Smoke Grenade: Mostly used to screen the movement of Marines from enemy units when artillery smoke is unavailable.
-M18 Colored Smoke Grenade: Used to mark positions for friendly units during extraction or for close air support.
-M40B Pulse Grenade: Comes with a dual acting electronic fuse that can be changed with a switch on the M41A2 Pulse Rifle. Can switch from either a 3 second time fuse to a point detonating fuse.
AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT LIST
This is the basic list of equipment available to the Marines of Alpha Company, and is subject to change at any time depending on re-supplies and the like. According to Designations and specialties Marines recieve, they may or may not need everything on the list. Equipment nearest the top of the list is more essential to each Marine, as equipment farther down the list is less essential and may become necassary depending on the objectives of the mission.
-Standard BDUs
-Marine Corps 8 Point Cover
-M3 Body Armor OR M2 Body Armor (lighter, weaker)
(Note About Body Armor: M2 only protects the chest and stomach, and its armor is lighter and weaker, less bulky. M2 is for scouts or snipers or officers, who can run about more quickly, and duck into spaces for protection etc, to make up for their armor's lack of protection and assist in their squad rolls to make them more efficient.
M3 protects the shoulders, stomach, chest, groin, and has leggings. This is what should be worn by just about everyone else. Medics, Commtech, Infantry...)
